Como City \u2013 Lakefront, Old Town & Brunate<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From Cadorago<\/strong>, you can reach Como Lago<\/strong> by train<\/strong> in about 15 minutes<\/strong>. Step out of the station and the lake greets you with the scent of water and the city\u2019s gentle buzz. Head straight to Piazza Cavour<\/strong>, then walk onto the pier to reach Life Electric<\/strong>, the sculpture shining at the center of the basin\u2014a first full immersion in lake colors. Back on shore, slip into the Old Town<\/strong>: Piazza Volta<\/strong>, Piazza Duomo<\/strong>, and the Broletto<\/strong> offer stone arcades and warm shop windows. Getting to Nesso<\/strong> is already part of the spectacle: from Como<\/strong>, take the ASF C30 bus<\/strong> (direction Bellagio) from the Stazione Autolinee \u2014 Piazza Matteotti<\/strong> (easily reached by train from La Maison de Geraldine) and in about 45 minutes<\/strong> the lake accompanies you through curves and viewpoints to the stop on the village hairpin. Here begins a slow descent: stone steps<\/strong>, the fresh scent of water, and a growing roar as you approach the Orrido di Nesso<\/strong>, the gorge where mountain streams plunge into the lake. A few turns more and the Ponte della Civera<\/strong> appears\u2014medieval, low over the water: one of the Lario\u2019s most stirring views, perfect for stopping in silence, listening to the rush, and filling your eyes with color.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In autumn<\/strong> (in my view the best time of year to visit), light skims between the houses and the bridge; if you descend to the spiaggetta<\/strong> (when access is permitted) you\u2019ll find smooth pebbles and crystal-clear water. The return is uphill\u2014take it slowly: the gradini irregolari<\/strong> are uneven but perfectly manageable with scarpe comode<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a break, near the imbarcadero<\/strong> you\u2019ll find simple caf\u00e9s serving sandwiches and platters<\/strong>; along the provincial road, small village osterie<\/strong> (reduced hours in low season). Alternatively, pack a merenda al sacco<\/strong> to enjoy in the sun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tremezzina \u2014 Villa Carlotta & the Lake Como Greenway<\/h2><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Arriving in Tremezzina<\/strong> feels like stepping into a water garden. From Como Lago<\/strong>, the ferry<\/strong> skirts villages and little marinas to the Tremezzo pier<\/strong>; by land, from Como Bus Station (Piazza Matteotti)<\/strong> the ASF C10 bus<\/strong> drops you near the entrance to Villa Carlotta<\/strong>. Here begins autumn\u2019s gentlest walk: tree-lined avenues, terraces facing Bellagio<\/strong>, leaves crunching underfoot. The villa\u2019s interiors<\/strong> require a ticket (reduced hours in season), but the gardens<\/strong> and lake views alone are worth the trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step back to the water and follow the waymarkers of the Greenway del Lago<\/strong> toward Lenno<\/strong>: a flat 2\u20133 km thread between Tremezzo<\/strong> and Lenno<\/strong>, passing through Parco Teresio Olivelli<\/strong>, little harbors, old cobblestones, and homes scented with lake and nature. Keep an easy pace\u2014the views stay wide open over the Como branch. In Lenno\u2019s Golfo di Venere<\/strong>, the afternoon turns golden; if you still have energy, look out toward the headland of Villa del Balbianello<\/strong> (exteriors\/views from the water or the path; check openings and times).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the time is right, take a seat at the table. In Mezzegra<\/strong>, Antica Trattoria del Risorgimento<\/strong> (Via Sant\u2019Abbondio 8, Azzano di Mezzegra, Tremezzina)<\/em> is a lakeside restaurant perfect for carefully prepared dishes and mirror-like water views; for a glass of wine with boards and a cozy vibe, try Cantina Follie<\/strong> (Via Alessandro Volta 14\u201316, Tremezzo \u2014 Tremezzina)<\/em>.
